Step-by-step walkthrough

Prefer text to video? Every turn is below in order — which ring to turn, which way, roughly how far, and whose clamp it is clearing. Keep it open next to the game and work down the list.

Level 17 · Beginner · 9 turns, one ring turns twice. This is a text-only solve. The central blue ring is a closed carrier with a clamp on each side.

The centre is a closed blue ring with two clamps. Around it, the upper edge carries a light green, red and orange group, the right side carries orange and blue, and the lower left carries purple, dark green and light blue. One ring in the lower middle is held twice, so it comes back for a second turn.

How the rings work

  • A turning ring has a gap. A clamp presses on its rim, and the ring comes free when the gap reaches that clamp.
  • The central blue ring is a closed circle. It holds the rings on both sides and is not turned until the very end.
  • A ring held by two clamps needs two separate turns. The lower-middle light blue ring is the only one here that comes back.
  • Work from the outer edge toward the centre. That keeps each clamp in the place where the previous step left it.
  • Some turns take a neighbouring ring with them. The nine steps are clicks, not the number of rings removed.

Turn order

Step 1 — Purple ring, lower right

  • Action: turn the purple ring at the lower right until its gap reaches its clamp.
  • Why: it is the outer piece on that side.
  • After this: the purple ring drops.

Step 2 — Orange ring, middle right

  • Action: turn the orange ring at the middle right until its gap meets its clamp.
  • Why: the lower-right purple ring is gone, so this ring is exposed.
  • After this: the orange ring drops.

Step 3 — Blue ring, lower right

  • Action: turn the blue ring at the lower right until its gap reaches its clamp.
  • Why: it is the last outer ring on the right before the lower-middle group.
  • After this: the blue ring and the red ring at the lower right drop together.

Step 4 — Light blue ring, lower middle (first turn)

  • Action: turn the lower-middle light blue ring until its first clamp releases.
  • Why: it is held twice, so one turn only loosens one side.
  • After this: the ring is loose on one side but is still attached to the lower-left dark green ring.

Step 5 — Purple ring, middle left

  • Action: turn the purple ring at the middle left until its gap meets its clamp.
  • Why: the lower-middle ring is not fully free yet, and this left-hand ring is the next exposed piece.
  • After this: the purple ring drops.

Step 6 — Light blue ring, lower middle (second turn)

  • Action: turn the lower-middle light blue ring again until its gap reaches the second clamp.
  • Why: the first turn only cleared one of its two clamps.
  • After this: the light blue ring and the lower-left dark green ring drop together.

Step 7 — Light green ring, top

  • Action: turn the light green ring at the top until its gap reaches its clamp.
  • Why: it is the outer ring on the top edge.
  • After this: the light green ring drops.

Step 8 — Red ring, upper right

  • Action: turn the red ring at the upper right until its gap meets its clamp.
  • Why: the top light green ring is gone and this is the next ring along.
  • After this: the red ring and the orange ring above it drop together.

Step 9 — Blue ring, centre

  • Action: turn the central blue ring until its gap reaches the last clamp.
  • Why: both sides of the hub are now clear.
  • After this: the central blue ring and the light blue ring above it drop together, clearing the level.

Pro tips

  • Do not skip the second turn. The lower-middle light blue ring looks loose after step 4, but it is still attached to the dark green ring until step 6.
  • The central blue ring is not a step-1 target. It is a closed carrier and only moves at the end.
  • Step 3 and step 8 each take a pair. The lower-right red ring follows the blue ring, and the top orange ring follows the red ring.
  • Nine clicks, more than nine rings. Count each turn, not each piece that falls.

Level 17 in short

Clear the lower-right purple, middle-right orange and lower-right blue rings, turn the lower-middle light blue ring twice, then clear the middle-left purple ring. Finish the top light green, upper-right red and central blue rings.
