Step-by-step walkthrough

Prefer text to video? Every turn is below in order — which ring to turn, which way, roughly how far, and whose clamp it is clearing. Keep it open next to the game and work down the list.

Level 19 · Beginner · 16 actions. This is a text-only solve. Most of the board is pull-out bars; only the rings are turned, and two of them need a second turn.

This is the densest board in the first twenty levels. Bars run across the top, right, left, lower middle and bottom, and a compact group of rings sits in the centre. The bars have to be pulled in the right order because several of them pin the rings that would otherwise turn.

How the pieces work

  • A turning ring has a gap. A clamp presses on its rim, and the ring comes free when the gap reaches that clamp.
  • A bar with a silver sleeve is a pull-out piece. Pull it along the sleeve; do not rotate it around the ring group.
  • A ring held by two clamps needs two turns. The top light green ring and the middle-right blue ring both come back for a second turn.
  • Bars can pin rings from above. If a ring will not turn, look for a bar crossing the same link before forcing it.
  • The sixteen steps are clicks. Step 16 removes a closed ring, a bar and the bottom U-shaped bar together.

Solution order

Step 1 — Pull the bottom light blue U-shaped bar

  • Action: pull the light blue U-shaped bar at the very bottom out along its two silver sleeves.
  • Why: it closes the bottom of the board and blocks the lower ring group.
  • After this: the U-shaped bar leaves and the bottom opens.

Step 2 — Turn the top light green ring (first turn)

  • Action: turn the light green ring at the upper left until its gap reaches the red ring's clamp.
  • Why: it is held from more than one side, so the first turn only clears one clamp.
  • After this: the ring is loose on one side but has not dropped.

Step 3 — Pull the upper-left purple L-shaped bar

  • Action: pull the purple L-shaped bar at the upper left along its sleeve.
  • Why: it crosses the light green ring and keeps the second clamp from opening.
  • After this: the purple bar leaves and the clamps around the top light green ring loosen.

Step 4 — Turn the top light green ring (second turn)

  • Action: turn the top light green ring again until its gap reaches the last clamp.
  • Why: the first turn only cleared one side, and the purple bar has just released the other.
  • After this: the light green ring drops.

Step 5 — Turn the left-hand red ring

  • Action: turn the red ring on the left until its gap meets its clamp.
  • Why: it is the outer ring on the left side.
  • After this: the red ring drops.

Step 6 — Turn the middle-right blue ring (first turn)

  • Action: turn the blue ring at the middle right until its first clamp releases.
  • Why: it is held twice, and the lower dark green ring is still attached.
  • After this: the blue ring is loose on one side.

Step 7 — Turn the middle-right blue ring (second turn)

  • Action: turn the middle-right blue ring again until its gap reaches the second clamp.
  • Why: the first turn only cleared one of its two clamps.
  • After this: the blue ring drops, and the dark green ring at the lower right falls with it.

Step 8 — Pull the right-hand red L-shaped bar

  • Action: pull the red L-shaped bar on the right along its sleeve.
  • Why: it crosses the right side and blocks the central group.
  • After this: the red bar leaves and the right side is clear.

Step 9 — Turn the central dark green ring

  • Action: turn the dark green ring in the centre until its gap reaches its clamp.
  • Why: the right-hand bar is gone and this ring is now exposed.
  • After this: the central dark green ring drops.

Step 10 — Turn the central orange ring

  • Action: turn the orange ring in the centre until its gap meets its clamp.
  • Why: it is the next ring in the central group.
  • After this: the orange ring drops.

Step 11 — Turn the middle-right purple ring

  • Action: turn the purple ring at the middle right until its gap reaches its clamp.
  • Why: it is the last ring in the central group.
  • After this: the purple ring drops.

Step 12 — Pull the lower-middle green vertical bar

  • Action: pull the green vertical bar at the lower middle along its sleeve.
  • Why: it still pins the left and centre links.
  • After this: the green bar leaves and the lower-left side loosens.

Step 13 — Pull the upper-middle light blue horizontal bar

  • Action: pull the light blue horizontal bar at the upper middle along its sleeve.
  • Why: it crosses the upper ring group and blocks the remaining top bars.
  • After this: the light blue bar leaves.

Step 14 — Pull the top blue bar

  • Action: pull the blue bar at the very top along its sleeve.
  • Why: it is the last bar on the upper edge.
  • After this: the blue bar leaves. Only the left and bottom pieces remain.

Step 15 — Pull the lower-left blue L-shaped bar

  • Action: pull the blue L-shaped bar at the lower left along its sleeve.
  • Why: it crosses the lower-left link.
  • After this: the blue L-shaped bar leaves and the lower-left connection opens.

Step 16 — Pull the left green L-shaped bar

  • Action: pull the green L-shaped bar on the left out along its sleeve.
  • Why: it is the last piece holding the light blue closed ring.
  • After this: the light blue closed ring drops with the green bar, and the purple U-shaped bar at the bottom slides out with them, clearing the level.

Pro tips

  • Count the bars, not the pieces. Steps 1, 3, 8, 12, 13, 14, 15 and 16 are pulls; the rest are turns.
  • Two rings turn twice. The top light green ring is steps 2 and 4, and the middle-right blue ring is steps 6 and 7. Skipping the second turn leaves the ring hanging.
  • Clear the right before the centre. The red L-shaped bar at step 8 must be gone before the central dark green ring can turn.
  • The bottom opens twice. The bottom U-shaped bar goes first, and the bottom purple U-shaped bar leaves with the final green bar.

Level 19 in short

Pull the bottom U-shaped bar, work the top light green ring around its purple bar, clear the left red ring and the middle-right blue ring, then pull the right red bar. Finish the central three rings, then remove the lower-middle, upper-middle, top and lower-left bars before the final left green bar.
